Gamified Platform Framing for Entrepreneur Competencies

Gamified Platforms: Enhancing Entrepreneurial Skills Through Game-Based Learning

What is a Gamified Entrepreneurial Platform?

This article explains that a gamified entrepreneurial platform is a digital environment designed to develop and showcase core entrepreneurial competencies using game mechanics like badges, leaderboards, and feedback systems.

Why is it Important?

According to the research by Torres-Toukoumidis et al., gamification fosters engagement, critical thinking, and teamwork—key for entrepreneurship. The study identified five core competencies that can be enhanced through a well-designed platform: learning through experience, motivation, spotting opportunities, working with others, and valuing ideas.

How is it Applied?

Framework and Competency Prioritization

Using the EntreComp model by the European Commission, researchers surveyed 15 experts to prioritize competencies. The top five were:

  1. Learning through experience

  2. Motivation and perseverance

  3. Spotting opportunities

  4. Working with others

  5. Valuing ideas

Gamification Mechanics Used

Each competency was matched with a game element:

  • XP (Experience Points): For work experience and self-development

  • Feedback: To reinforce motivation and perseverance

  • Leaderboards: For opportunity spotting based on event participation

  • Collaboration Metrics: To assess teamwork and network reach

  • Badges: To reward value alignment with ethical entrepreneurship
